This set saw the introduction of the first pre-painted beholder miniature. This still continues to be one of my favorite beholder sculpts.

My sister in law got me two random boosters for Christmas one year a decade or so ago. One of them held this beholder. I was soooo happy. I haven't ever gone gaga over collecting beholders, largely because they are out of my price range, so it was REALLY nice to randomly pull it.

Quick and easy post here...

liked the Couatl & Wood Woad

Really Liked the Griffon & Grell

Loved the Giant Scorpion.

But, like ksbsnowowl and kor, I was absolutely blown away by the Beholder. Sheer brilliance in a miniature.

Beholder is still my go to for the sculpt

Love the Couatl same as above , its very colorful and love the pose

Tough for the 3rd but it could be the large blue dragon (love this mini), the dire bear is a monster and the Grell.

Beholder and Large Blue Dragon were two easy choices.
My third was the Dwarf Phalanx Solider, just a nice sculpt, decent paint job and an unusual dwarf, not just another axe wielding dude nor a gold dwarf.

This was a really good set, overall IMHO. I remember being very excited about it due to the large number of more unique sculpts and varieties of useful minis.

Was hard to pick my favourites. I don't like some of the interpretations (skullcrusher ogre, flind, ettin) yet the set is filled with many useful rank&file minis that don't necessary stand out (timber wolf, bullywug, kenku, dwarves, vampires, giant frog).

Image
Not my favourite beholder because he sits on that 40mm base, actually my favourite is the one I don't have :D (Eye of Flame). Still a staple for a 'normal' beholder that matured nicely.

Image
I don't have many of the rares in the set (this one, Couatl, Fiendish Scoprion, Gold Dragon. Aspect of Nerzul, Griffon) but I own the unpainted version. I like it because it's something that's needed, we haven't gotten zombie versions of the other dragons (except maybe the red dracolich), and I don't see being remade too soon. Last but not least, it's nicely executed.

Image
Such a great dire bear, with those 3rd E bony potrusions that I love (nostalgia of the first D&D edition I learned).

Deathknell-#32 Beholder. I'm not a fan of the unpainted beholder that Wizkids put out and you see everywhere these days. Instead, this is the design I prefer for them, and the mini(though I haven't ever seen it personally) looks to be quite nicely made!

I make no secret I am all about Eberron Minis, so my top three are the Dolgrim, the Warforged Wizard and Soldier of Thrane. I used the Solider for a PC character that I went from like level 3 up to 15 with!

Wood Woad - This is an unsung HERO of a mini. It is so simple it gets overlooked, but this is a great sculpt and paint job, creating a fantastic and realistic mini. And in the right hands, these things are extremely usable minis.

I have 6 of these, and they get lots of use. I pull them out for fey realm, haunted forest, evil druid minion, treant minion, twigblight boss, wood elemental, and any excuse I can come up with. I am considering a primal forest dwarf race right now!

If you are not familiar, read up on these guys; some cool backstory for your creative flow.

1. Gold Dragon
I am using this mini right now as my character mini, as we are running a 14 minute day buffed to the max inside "Castle Scarwall" from the Pathfinder Adventure Path "Curse of the Crimson Throne" and it is a beauty.

2. Skeletal Dwarf
The only non-human humanoid skeleton that we ever got and it looks great!
Very useful when exploring old mine shafts or old dwarven ruins/tombs.
When i continue to GM my "Sons of the Spider" all-drow campaign, my level 4 players will encounter 8 of them (led by a large Boss) inside a dwarven fortress which had been inside "Araumycos" for a few hundred years on their way from "Menzoberranzan" to "Ched Nasad".

3. Dragonblade Ninja
The only Ninja mini we have. A player used it as his Kitsune Ninja when i was gamemastering "Jade Regent" books 1-5.
I now have a few of these to attack my players when they are sleeping. ;-)
