Kickstarter is live
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/st ... -legends-1
Only running for 10 days tho
I write at Blizzardwatch.com to afford all these minis. Officially boycotting WizKids until Three Kobolds in a Trenchcoat is released to the general public.
Donated my PPM to a local library D&D group.

The Green Dragon and Griffon (and a few of the others) that aren't KS exclusive are only available in the All In pack. Are they going to sell them individually later, or will they eventually get an Encounter box?

I assume they might arrive in future sets but who knows.
With shipping its 151 euro, so close to $160ish for the all in pledge. I backed at that level but I'm thinking I'll back out of this one.

I asked a question and got an answer. It seems relevant to the topic.

These are essentially boss fights boxes. So I guess the pricing isn't as crazy as I thought initially.

I can go to my FLGS right now and buy two Epic Encounters for a hundred bucks and get 40 miniatures, plus booklets and such (which are not the point, anyway). So...this KS is offering me the opportunity to pay 60% more for 2 fewer minis after waiting for a year or so?

I don't get it. Kickstarters are supposed be cheaper, in exchange for the money up front. This seems like the opposite.

Oh, they are claiming this is a "whopping discount" on the eventual retail price. Do they actually think that is a $310 product? lol
Totally agree this is way to expensive for what you get. This would have been better as just one or two box set. Also that hill giant looks half the size of the frost giant.

I'm not sold. This seems to me to be kind of similar to a Beedle and Grimm offering, i.e. targeted at a select fan base who want a premium offering. It's pretty hard to come from the extraordinary value of the D&L Kickstarter to this and not be underwhelmed. It's a lot of money for a lot of paper.

Because of popular demand. The made a lower cost minis pledge. Primarily for bardsung but it is a small win for the minis at a cheaper price.

Edit:
I want some of these.
The green dragon and trees, yes.
Owlbear and crazy druid, yes
Wraiths- not really but could easily find a use, they're very cultish.
The griffon and dead horse, yes please
Hill giant yes, boulders uh no, I can get rocks outside.
efreeti and fire elementals, not needed but I guess more wouldn't hurt.

So really only 8 are a hard yes (I counted both trees)
$130 / 8 = 16.25 each
Seems high but is it really...

Dang it, I still have to pass. Grr sensible self.

A little bit better, at least. I'm still very much out, though.

I'm a fan of SFG miniatures, and of their Epic Encounter series in particular. I have their Undead, Goblin, Orc, and Serpentfolk sets, with only the Orcs left to paint. This KS is not working for me. The whole point of a KS is you get my money up front in exchange for a better deal. If I can go to my FLGS right now and get 40 SFG miniatures for a hundred bucks or less, why do I want to pay $120+shipping+duties (plus the risk of backing a KS) for 38 miniatures in a year or two? Makes no sense.

I get that they are trying to bundle these as entire gaming experiences to justify the higher prices, but IMO that's just a gimmick. I will continue to buy and appreciate Epic Encounters but so far this KS feels like a missed opportunity.

Edit: are there even stretch goals?

Nope no stretch goals. They just want people to pay a premium to maybe have it first. I agree this who idea is very underwhelming at this price point. The minis don’t seem that great vs what they have done in other epic encounters box’s too in my opinion.

Hive of the Ghoul-kin review from GG:

Hmmm...not a fan of fewer miniatures and fewer sculpts, unless the MSRP is lower, which I kind of doubt. The sculpts themselves are cool, as always, but this kind of feels more like a Call of Cthulhu set to me, and I don't generally use miniatures for that game. Probably a pass unless I find it at a great price.
