The brave sacrifice of Ullac.

Post by Kezghan »

In the dead of night, an unexpected dome of pure ice formed around the cuddling for warmth companions Ullac and Lyric.

Rising out of the floor a massive infernal steel spear being clutched by a grotesque insect-like Devil. Lyric in all her learned ways knew this to be a Gelugon, one of the most powerful devils of the Nine Hells. She also knew it was likely here for her and her alone.

Speaking at Lyric with an infernal voice the Gelugon leveled its spear at Lyric and said “Your soul is forfeit for your transgressions against Asmodeus”.

Before having a chance to respond Ullac pressed forward while while clamping a massive hand over Lyrics face and mouth and spoke “Take me in her stead!”. “A contract must be signed” the devil replied and as it said it that a slab of ice formed with words in it’s free hand.

Ullac still restraining the struggling Lyric moved forward and signed quickly showing no doubt in their sacrificial actions. The ice slab dissolved as quickly as it had formed. Ullac then release Lyric and spoke “You’re my first friend, best friend and I love you.”

As their last words slipped out that massive spear broke thru Ullac’s chest and the Gelugon hoisted them up like a rag doll and in seconds but what felt like an eternity faded from this world.

The ice soon followed as a sobbing Lyric was momentarily alone then realizing her other 3 companions were unconscious outside of the dome…

I love the use of the walls of ice. But Ullac should have had his head examined before it was too late! :D
Disclamer: I prefer black bases, and as such have painted many clear bases black. Pictures of my collection will reflect this, varying from the original way the mini was produced.

Their head examined…. they’re level 3.

Full context this was an rp moment for a pc that needs to dip from the game for six months. The player and I devised the exit, the group is so close knit that it had to feel impossible to chase Ullac. The moment tied into Lyric’s background as she had the secret from the adventure (Rime of the Frost Maiden) where she had penned a book exposing various nobility in Waterdeep and Baldur’s Gate as devil worshippers.

The other players had no idea the one player had to bounce. Went down real heavy. Perfection.

This is great! Thanks for the story and nice photos.
I second the admiration for the use of walls of ice.
