First!

Love a water/sea themed set though - the more use we can get out of boats just makes them a better purchase. Bring on ALL the water based minis.

I’m certainly interested in this set.

This would be a golden opportunity to introduce a companion ship to the Fallen Star. I have my fingers crossed.

Too bad there aren’t huges in the set, but bring on the pirates, I can use many more of them.
Disclamer: I prefer black bases, and as such have painted many clear bases black. Pictures of my collection will reflect this, varying from the original way the mini was produced.

I would love some more miniatures of pirates.

Which D&D book is the Maw of Sekolah in?

I don’t recognize that monster.

Well this came out of nowhere... just when we were complaining about no news. Someone at Wizkids may be watching the forums? ;)
Thematically this is promising to be awesome, I am hoping for minis from Saltmarsh and Yawning Portal like the Hippocampus or the Kelpie. The two-headed Shark is awesome, and you could just use it as a representation of Sekolah himself. I expect a lot more Sahuagin, Sea Elves, Merfolk and Locathah too. Water Weird we have in Nolzur's, hopefully we will get one now, also Giant Crab/Lobster and assorted Giant Fish. Swarm of Kippers has been a long time coming.
The Saltmarsh adventure has armored "Shell Sharks" too. And I am sure we are now getting the rest of the Drowned undead minis from that story. Maybe the giant Peryton too?
They mention a Dragon Turtle Wyrmling - those are still Large sized. Surprised they did not make the Adult the premium for the set. Also, a new Aboleth, odd, I was fine with the F&T one.

Curious though that we are getting this in September, and not a set themed after Glory of the Giants. I did not expect Planescape, as the book comes out end of the year, so maybe that's 2024's first set?
Wait... I just thought the Set 29 was an error? I mean, Sand and Stone is just Set 26. Do you mean we have 2 sets between that and this???
Also, pretty unusual but I think the Maw of Sekolah seems to be an actual photograph, not a render... They usually do not have hardcopies to show this early.
Maybe this is a case of F&T, that this set has been prepared long in advance but was pushed out?

Sounds like another promising set - an ocean/aquatic set was always high on a lot of people's lists back in those "what do you want to see next" threads, as I recall.

Interesting that this is set 29 though - so we have two more sets between Sand & Stone and Seas & Shores.

We know that Wizkids have mentioned in the past that they wanted to do more ship models, so I hope we see one of those announced for the same release windows.
Current PPM wishlist: Barlgura, Bronze Scout, Cultist/Cult Fanatic, Gnoll Witherling, Hezrou, Nonaton, Rug of Smothering, Stone Defender,

I think that means the 2 missing sets are themed to books that aren't out yet.

Just when I thought I could move away from wizkids, they drop something I need more of.

I have marked an asterisk next to the the Lizardfolk Queen since the picture which is included in the retailer gallery for this set is numbered as: DDMW19-072. The last digits usually correspond to the number the mini is assigned in the set (or close to). In this case, given the high number and the presence of the "W" in the prefix, I suspect it is instead part of an unannounced Warband set and was accidentally included in the images for this set.

Whoa, great minis. Already love this set. Wastrilith fits into this nicely too! And looks like I was right on the Locathah and Quipper Swarm.
Weird btw, I assumed Lizard Kings/Queens are Large? Mold looks great but should be bigger. Or 5E shrunk them down?
Great that we are getting a weapon-wielding Skum too. The guy from the Saltmarsh set was lonely.
The pirates and merfolk look awesome too. There are some strange re-release choices, Spectator, Aarakocra and Blue Abishai feel rather off for an underwater theme, but I don't mind having more. Guess it is all to do with Wizkids wanting to re-release older minis on clear bases?
What is that Sahuagin Priestess holding? Baby Sahuagin? Maaan that looks terrifying. But a weird mini, so far the two female Sahuagin we had in the Warband and Saltmarsh Set 2 have quite different looks from the males, with smaller head fins.
The Giant Seahorse Rider should have been an Uncommon, same as in PFB... but looks awesome.
Aboleth sure seems to have more paint than the F&T one, nice!

Pretty sure each of those 3 has already been reprinted with clear bases in the relevant sets they came from. So I guess its just to create variety? To be fair while I agree they aren't thematic they are pretty high demand/value minis in their sets so having them in another set as well will help bring their prices down a bit.
I run RPG Mini Hunter - an Australian based Singles store.
