It feels like Wizards had no cohesive plan for these obelisks until people started coming up with conspiracy theories. Now it's a whole thing.
This is too expensive.

I liked phandalin obelisk as an open plot hook to work your own homebrew either into, or out of, that adventure.

Ok so I was updating my Amazon want list as I always like to have a few items in there for family to choose from as they have zero idea what I have do not have or even what the heck is a battle mat or D&D.

This book on Amazon is pre-priced as $78 CAN ???????? I thought $50 was crazy at one time.

Prices are often weird when an item has just been listed.

It is probably because the regular sellers haven't put up the listing so it is just showing some small company's price.

I just looked it up and the seller is amazon so yeah that price is high. I would still expect it to drop sometime before release.

Yep, they announced there would be big price increases on published books. Really, if they'd done sensible periodic increases over the years, this wouldn't be such a shock, but who could have foreseen the global wrenching that covid caused? Money is worth half what it was a few years ago.
This is too expensive.

Wasn't it just a $10 increase and the first one in 10 years?

The digital version of Planescape on dndbeyond is listed at $49.99. The new pricing is part of their new cash grab strategy.
Phandelver is $29.99

There is a physical & digital version for $70. https://dndstore.wizards.com/us/product ... cal-bundle

I'm not sure about the dollar amount, but basically yeah, the first increase since 5e started.

Are you sure?

I think as I remember there was a increase within 5th Edition for books that shocked me first was the Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage that increased to $50 something CAN. on amazon at least. And I was like what the heck!

Source books were always like $50 US MSRP, and it was said to increase to $60 this year. Adventure book sale prices vary the most, and Amazon skews all values, though some do charge more than MSRP. Personally, I'm sure I've not paid more than $40 for any one book, having purchased many of them used, and I'll probably keep on buying used as often as possible.

Used is the only option for 3.5 books, and now over time many of them have crept up over MSRP.

But for new, yeah you can usually get some sort of discount.
Disclamer: I prefer black bases, and as such have painted many clear bases black. Pictures of my collection will reflect this, varying from the original way the mini was produced.

It is up for preorder at 401 Games for $65.

That is the $60 USD MSRP plus they now add $5 to most things I guess because the exchange rate isn't great.

You could get the collector's edition for that or wait for a sale and get the regular for 10% off.

Heh, HeroClix had me covered for minis for that a decade ago.
