Firelock Games’ Blood & Plunder: Raise the Black
Re: Firelock Games’ Blood & Plunder: Raise the Black
I got around to building one of these.
It's a good size with 1 exception. The door is short so this must be a ship for gnomes.
Here is a human and dwarf infront of the door.

That looks really good, and now even more I'm excited to get mine!
I think that's a proper scale boat door, actually. It's supposed to be rather small, as there's just no space for a full height door. And then there are stairs down immediately beyond the doors, so it's usually possible to stand inside, though sometimes just barely. (And you can get even smaller doors than on that sloop!)

Yeah, you're probably right about that. But I'm still going with a gnomish armada

Does the kit come with sails or a pattern to make them?
Disclamer: I prefer black bases, and as such have painted many clear bases black. Pictures of my collection will reflect this, varying from the original way the mini was produced.

Haha! I mean, that does sound like a recipe for greatness.
(Pun not intended.)

It doesn't come with them but their website does have templates for the hardcore that want to do that.berk the black wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2023 11:13 am Does the kit come with sails or a pattern to make them?

As cool as it is to do all the rigging and such, my hands are way too shaky to even attempt something like that. Not to mention that the process would be infuriating every time something slipped and had to be redone.

I just look at the Falling Star, and while that ship does have sails they are furled up. I think that is a wise choice to facilitate gameplay. I love the size of this sloop, but am debating the blood sweat and tears I would have to put into it to get it game ready.

I'm wondering how close in size the D&L boat is from the Encounters campaign. I think it will be close to this size and is only 4 pieces.
nevermind, the B&L is probably 3x as long and at least 1 mini wider.Re: Firelock Games’ Blood & Plunder: Raise the Black
Yeah, I think Archon's will be much smaller, filling a different role. I wouldn't be shocked to see them launch a ship of their own before long, though. This one you've assembled looks perfect. Can't wait to see it painted.
This is too expensive.

Here is a YouTube video on rigging model ships.berk the black wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2023 11:13 am Does the kit come with sails or a pattern to make them?

I don’t find that doing this is helpful to gameplay, but it’s still interesting.
Edit: So less than an hour ago, Firelock Games sent out the final update for the Blood & Plunder KS, stating they have 100% completed fulfillment. At the bottom of the update was this note:
Some Hundred Years War plastic miniatures should be quite handy, depending on your preferred flavor of D&D.Our Next Kickstarter Campaign
Now that this project is completed, we are ready to move on to our next project, Blood & Crowns! Blood & Crowns is a ruleset based on the Blood & Plunder system, but focused on the medieval period, specifically conflicts of the 100 Years War. Check out our Facebook group or our Discord community for Blood & Crowns to stay up to date on when that project launches.
