What can you tell me about your plastic addiction?
Re: Flight risers
So, instead of physically positioning them at different elevations, you just mark which elevation it's on on the riser? Huh. That's an interesting system.
I'm not sure it's something I'd use personally, but I can definitely see this working well for encounters where vertical movement is important.

Re: Flight risers
Here are a couple I use. Both have their advantages. Thie first one is my preferred as it allows me to place a mini beneath when one is flying above. However, if it's important, the 2nd has the numbers listed on it to identify the height of the minis flight which is important as well. Like I said, I use both and both have their advantages.

Re: Flight risers
There are a couple things I look for in flight stands that those CZYY Flight Risers fall short on.
First, as Arbados mentioned is for depicting situations like climbing a vertical surface (especially with a rope) or for creatures that like to drop stuff (or like Nalfeshnee, who simply like to drop themselves on their victims), it is important to be able to position the elevated mini directly above another one. I have been using the Litko Round Figure Flying Stands like him for years, mainly to represent flying characters. The 10’ height is a little limiting, but if the party is in a dungeon with low ceilings they do fine. One of the biggest drawbacks to them is that they can only support medium or small minis.
The second thing I feel is important is that if one creature is higher than another, it should look higher on the table. There is a big difference visually between two minis that are level with each other but one is marked as being twice as high versus the mini actually being twice as high. Certainly there are limits of scale here, but even if the minis are only depicted with 10’s of feet difference in elevation instead of the actual 100’s of feet, you can get a better feel for the relative situation than if everything elevated is level and you have to read elevation markers in order decipher the situation. I eventually discovered Combat Tiers Flight Stands, which I can build up to 80’ tall reliably. That gives me latitude to depict a wide range of different elevations. They also solved another problem, that of being able to elevate huge and even gargantuan minis.

I’ve even used them Litko and Combat Tier in Tandem. I set up the Combat tiers to be at 20’ increments, and the we use the 10’ Litko stands to posion minis at the in-between 10” increments by placing those stands on the larger Combat Tier platforms.
At the game store I go to weekly to game, there is a wargame club that plays on the same night as us. They often play dogfighting games (WW I, Korea, Vietnam era). The have telescoping flight stands with aligator clips at the top that can be used to hold just about any type of plane. Those seem to work well, other than not allowing aircraft directly on top of each other.

Re: Flight risers
Everybody does what works for them and that is great. So many fun options. Flying situations in battle aren't an every week situation but when they do play into game it's important and great to be able to represent the players and/or enemies elevated on the battlefield.
The only thing I had issue with the flight stands you use Berk (and I am familiar with them) is that players and enemies often fly all across the battle map. I often have players flying and battling on one side of the map while others may be 60 or more feet away easily. Because of this it's great to have individual flight stands for players and enemies to move individually wherever they want.

Re: Flight risers
You’re absolutely right, pick the best tool for your price point and how you use them.
That being said, I have found that I use my flight stands for a lot more than representing flying creatures. Anything that requires elevation changes (most noticeably climbing) can be represented, I really like the Combat Tier system, because the platforms can easily accommodate huge and larger creatures (dragons, anyone?), or multiple characters and creatures at the same level. This is especially useful for combat.
As for needing more than a single platform in order to allow independent movement, I totally agree. I have two base sets, each with 2 top and bottom platforms. I also got a couple expansions, but that just let me go further vertically.
Here’s a situation where one of the players spider climbed the wall and ceiling to drop down to a tower (he’s spiking a climbing rope so that the rest of the party can follow.

And here’s a picture showing you can absolutely use multiple combat tier flight stands at the same time…

Disclamer: I prefer black bases, and as such have painted many clear bases black. Pictures of my collection will reflect this, varying from the original way the mini was produced.

Quartermaster Direct will release 3D Combat Risers - Single Flyer Kit, a new RPG miniatures accessory by Axe N Shield, into retail in Q3 2023.
The 3D Combat Risers - Single Flyer Kit gives both DMs and players alike a way of marking the elevation of flying characters in their tabletop encounters. Marking elevation has long been a problem for 5E players, and DMs classically used clear plastic dice set boxes as a makeshift way of showing that a characters was flying. The 3D Combat Risers offer a completely customizable stand for platform and height, allowing players to exchange the tops, bottoms, and rods to denote the correct elevation of a character in-game.
These sets will retail for $30.

What can you tell me about your plastic addiction?
Re: Flight risers
I have built tons of flight stands of various heights in a few minutes with random Leggo.
Don't ever spend money on these....just make some with blocks you have laying around (you or your kids do have thousands of Leggos just laying around right? Right???)

I haven't had Legos in my house in over a decade...

Re: Flight risers
No one should have to suffer so. Let me fill a box with what I find scattered on the floor of my kids' room and send it to you at once.
This is too expensive.
Re: Flight risers
My 2 kids have about 200 lbs of Legos at their mother's house, unless she got rid of them. My oldest stepson has a Lego Yoda and the other 2 step-kids never got into Lego.
All of my kids/step-kids are now adults though so no need for more. You can keep your toe tenderizers for yourself.
