Drizzit throws paint at stuff

Post by Drizzit »

I finally found some time to decrease my pile of shame and started by trying to salvage the biiiig mess that is Chief Guh.
Certainly no easy job with a lot of large, smooth surfaces with little to no detail and a basically only a factory painted dull basecoat.

Though I have come to love speedpaints in recent times, this was no option for Guh due to the lack of detail, so I dusted of my citadel paint rack, reactivated the paints this a bit of thinner medium and stainless steel balls and tried to get back into layering and wetblending. I tried to add a bit of contrast, by changing the Red Dragon leg into a blue one and added a lot of grime, drool and a bit of blood to increase the yuck factor.

That looks incredible. Love the pool build up in the belly button. Now I wish I would have grabbed this when MM/CSI had it for $12 a year or so ago.

You have inspired me! Great job on this hollow mini both literally and fugitively! Love the added detail to the base as well. Chief Guh is an interesting mini. I bought her as she just looked so odd and different. That always draws my interest. However, once received it felt like a hollow plastic toy and the paint was horrific as well.

You, however, have done a great job making her look like what she should be - the Hill Giant Queen! That queen would intimidate my players!

Man, you just upped the visuals of that mini a thousand times! That looks incredible! And she now looks creepy and intimidating! :D
Changing the colour of the dragon leg to blue was a smart move, and it works quite well! :)

Wow I do not own this piece myself as my hill giants are large but man great choice on the goo (like someone said that bellybutton is awesome) and transitioning the dragon leg color as ya that would be just too much red in one mini.

Love the dirty feet also!

I'm just echoing everybody else, but the eaten leg and drool are exceptional. Nice details!
Minis! Not talking donuts, skirts, or busses--just pure plastic (and pewter) joy, dude.

Thanks,
honestly before I started I doubted that it would work out due to the vast flat surfaces.
Next some older touch-ups.

Same here

This Roper was done before I got into Dwarvenforge, I have not yet painted the other one or the one from Nolzurs,
which I will try to do with my DF Cavern paint scheme
