The Reaper Tarrasque Aka KHANJIRA THE WORLD BREAKER

Post by Yack »

So I picked this bad boy up pretty much the night the price of Wizkids official Tarrasque version was confirmed

For $49.99 you really cannot go wrong if you can handle a brush in any kind of way. Bigger the minis easier to paint.

I am still working on this one but some comments were made on the Dwarven Forge thread under terrain (I posted some pics of it in battle) about how surprised people were over the size for the price. So here is a quick compare size against the classic Garg Black Dragon and the classic Colossal Red Dragon. I would say cause the Tarrasque creature is hunched a bit and leaning down to attack I would say it is bigger than Garg but not as tall as a Colossal so its a nice inbetween (more Garg) for the price.

The "regular gargantuan" size is actually a plus for me, as then it could fit in a bin with some other gargantuan. I've been side-eyeing that Fools Good 5e KS Tarrasque because it is massive and beautiful, but I would have no place to put it.

Very nice! I've considered getting this(and still might at some point), as it's just a really cool miniature! And Reaper's just an amazing minis company. :D

For a Tarrasque specifically, I personally prefer a less humanoid look than in Kanjira design, but I do think it's otherwise a very good choice for a Tarrasque mini. :D

So, I’ve been painting this bad boy up, but the base is warped enough that I can’t stably stand him up! Any advice? I’m not sure how to apply the hot/cold water trick to such a big area. I’ve been considering taping coins to part of the base to try and balance it.

Boil some water, then pour it into a 9x11 baking pan. Set the base in the water, it should become pliable in a short time.

I’ll try that, thank you Brophy. I’m enjoying painting this behemoth.

Mine is stable but has a very minor wobble, not visible .... but it will not tip.

When I put it together, I really focused on the tail and the out reached arm to balance it.. but your pieces sound like the base got a full warp.

Question how paint takes to the boiling water trick .... just curious especially when it's painted at home.

Yeah, the base is pretty warped. I’ll let you know how it treats the paint when I get around to it! Busy week with schoolwork and Pathfinder prep.

Well, I still haven’t gotten around to it, but I haven’t forgotten. Lately I’ve had a lot of personal stuff going on (dad in the hospital, midterms, etc) so when I get a few minutes to paint it’s just been to start base coating a couple minis I got for my birthday last month (my ever-growing pile of shame threatens to swallow me whole!). I will move on this guy soon though!

I have this version at home. Painted by a friend for me.

I can really recomment it!

Anyone have multiple versions of the tarrasque to put up for comparison? I just have the D&L one; I'd love to see it next to this Reaper one, the official Wizkids tarrasque, and some of the others that have come out.

I would also be interested in that. I’m fairly sure the IotR Tarrasque is bigger than Khanjira but I don’t actually know that.
