Vexwing wrote: Sun Apr 28, 2024 8:32 am These do come with terrain bases; "skateboards" as you like to call them. The minis won't come pre-attached to them, but they'll have a base to glue the figure to. I know a whole bunch of generic terrain bases were sculpted, these are now generalized and you may see some figures coming with the same terrain base. I'm actually not sure if the included terrain base is randomized or pre-selected for each figure.

I haven't been involved with UPM since wave 21, nor was I included in discussions on these line changes. I really should bite my lip on this subject from here on out.
Thank you, the info, skateboards I am cool with... never had a issue with that myself.

I zero interest in sculpted bases... I will just use the plan black ones of my own. I dislike terrain on base ..... like big time it limits the mini for me on actual 3D terrain on the table... looks silly.

No argument here, every flat-footed Frameworks mini I've built I've attached directly to the base and left the terrain on the sprue frame. If it were up to me, they'd come with a standard thickness PPM base and forego the terrain piece. People who want terrain can buy basing materials.

Sculpted terrain always looks funny too.

Thanks for what info you could give Vex! No fault on your end. As with the new Pathfinder set, you’ve proven you have good idea of what the community might want and are a fan of your own product.

Does anyone have the new bases in hand?

How do they compare with the ones on the minis?

Any comparison pics?

This would be ideal.

I painted a bunch of D&L miniatures this weekend that I've had kicking around since a previous Kickstarter. Although the fully sculpted bases look cool for display, those gnolls, for example, are going to look pretty strange anywhere but in a wilderness encounter.

CGI renders are up for the Nolzur's minis. Nice to be finally able to see renders of some older minis like the Maruts, or some of the Dragonlance ones. Though I gotta wonder who is gonna buy Ansalon Human Rogue minis for 5$ when the prepainted one is like 1.5-2$?
The Spectral Cloud I think is the one that could benefit the most from a repaint, lot can be done with the translucent pieces!
Interesting that the Giant Space Hamster does not include the Gnome handler.

I am wondering why none have bases. Does this mean you will have to buy the separate bases packs?
Brophy wrote: Thu Apr 25, 2024 3:34 pm Single mediums for $4.49 - This bothers me, I get it's mostly because of packaging though.
Double Mediums for $5.99
Large $8.99
Huge $14.99

The 2 skeletons and the Marut & hippogriff are must buys for me though.
I thought singles were 5$ before or something, no? If not, they are still pretty cheap compared to most prepainted minis. I mean many of these are released as Rares in prepainted forms or are only available in special packs.
Yack wrote: Fri Apr 26, 2024 4:33 am I'm going to suggest these are now in single packs. (but the roadmen say a male and female) Damn thats one way to try to kill the market for unpainted.

Sea Lion, Crabfolk and of course will be impossible to get lizardfolk skeleton will be on my list to get and of course some bases. Man with these prices it may be cheaper to buy the ppm version now on some of these sculpts lol
Sea Lion you can get prepainted for 6$, only the Crabfolk are more expensive, usually 9$. Honestly, unless the prepainted version is a Rare, I think it is gonna be always cheaper to buy that one.
I was thinking more around really player characters/npc minis as you could get two different sculpts in a pack of unpainted for like $6 bucks CAN which was usually cheaper than what say KoL would sell a 2 single PPM for online of a player character. Unless a really dud common. But yeah rares ppm in unpainted were many times cheaper to get the unpainted sculpt. (I do not price my time of painting as its fun for me and usually better than anything ppm anyways) I price only on plastic and sculpt when it comes to unpainted.
But yes, your right...

My comments of course are under the assumption that some of these new medium unpainted packs only now contain one mini with the price hike.
Oh, I see what you mean. Yes I recall mostly Mediums came in packs of two, or sometimes three. I notice there are also no Small minis in this assortment.

Do you mean the new terrain bases Vexwing mentioned or do you mean the base packs now in stores? I have a pack of the clear bases (they didn't have black) and they're identical to the Nolzur's wafer bases.

I still prefer and use the 3.5 marut but I may use one of these unpainted ones as something tied to mechanus and modrons.

I was of this opinion too, but something about how the Marut looks similar to the Modrons has actually started to win me over. Perhaps I will find a way to work them all in...

The new Kolyarut is neat because of the four arms and four swords, but I still like the idea of the robes and crown on the old Blood War version. The newer one just looks more like a robot, even though I suspect under the robes the Blood War one looks fairly similar (minus the extra arms). At least with the new Marut the eye brings a touch of humanity to it. I guess I'm looking for a balance between mechanical and sentient.
Disclamer: I prefer black bases, and as such have painted many clear bases black. Pictures of my collection will reflect this, varying from the original way the mini was produced.

50th anniversary 1E/5E design minis from the prepainted set are already coming as unpainted minis, it seems! They are identical to the prepainted ones in pose.

I like both versions, I think the old one (mini and art) looked more imposing and scary, like an unstoppable Terminator-type foe, while the new one looks kinda silly with the tiny wings and big eye - but it also fits the Diterlizzi Planescape style more, and since it is being created by Modrons, that design is makes more sense. In 2E Maruts were servants of the gods, directly, by 3E they got their whole Inevitable system and ties to Modrons.

So, ICV2 calls these limited edition, guessing that means less than usual were produced?

So, here’s hoping this isn’t a “one big release a year” plan for these.

All three Dragonlance reprints are complete duds. As mentioned earlier, they’re $1.50 singles…without the sloppy “primer” coat.

Just in the sets covered, adult kruthik, harpy, Deinonychus, giant crab, skum, giant seahorse, psionic goblins, oculorb, flesh meld, death giant, treant noble, and black dragon rider all would have been wonderful additions.

I like some of these 50th Anv. minis as unpainted added to my collection, thanks for sharing that as a heads up.
