"From MagicCon: Chicago, we’re excited to announce an upcoming Magic: The Gathering - D&D crossover supplement.
We can’t say much at this point, but we’ll be headed to Lorwyn-Shadowmoor!"

So for those who don't know, Lorwyn/Shadowmoor is a plane in magic's multiverse which embodies Celtic folklore and myth. There are no humans (unless they have travelled there from other planes) instead it occupied by a number of other species: Goblins (called Boggarts), Merfolk (called Merrow), Giants, Elves (still basically elves, though they have horns), Treefolk (basically treants), Faeries, Flamekin (sentient elemental fire creatures), and Kithkin (basically hobbits, but they have psychic abilities)
There are also more things, changelings, ouphes, duergar, noggles, hags, and other fae type creatures.

It's called Lorwyn/Shadowmoor because of a special aspect of the plane - It has an event called the Great Aurora, during which the whole plane, including all of its inhabitants transform. When the plane is lorwyn, it's perpetually day, cycling only between Dawn, Noon and Dusk, never reaching night. Thus it is mostly a happy joyful plane. The Merrow are helpful, the Giants are friendly, though oafish, the goblins are wacky and pull pranks, and the kithkin are kind and valorous and such. The least friendly species are the elves who are quite beautiful, but xenophobic, seeing non-elven species as lesser beings, and discriminating against even elves whose beauty becomes marred.
After the change of the cycle, which usually only happens after a few hundred years, Shadowmoor. It becomes perpetually night - with even the hint of the sun hidden behind clouds as dawn rolls into dusk. Everything becomes scary - the Merrow become the horrific creatures they are in D&D, Giants are horrid evil things, the Kithkin become insular and scared of any outsiders etc. The main exceptions are the Elves become friendlier to outsiders loosing their xenophobia, and the Faeries - which in both shadowmoor and lorwyrn are basically the same, capricious and sneaky - and rumored to keep their memories between the transformations, which none of the other creatures do.

It's a very unique setting, and I think it's amazing in magic - the setting has only seen two magic sets each for Lorwyn and Shadowmoor each - and they were about 13 years ago.
A new Lorwyn set was supposed to be coming out this november, but it got bumped to early next year because they are doing an Avatar the Last Airbender set this fall instead (I believe they decided they wanted to push that up to make sure the Avatar set came out the same year as it's 20th anniversary) I see that at this point that they just get a few extra months to work on the D&D book - so I expect it's release will be in January or February (maybe march) next year.

I believe the original Lorwyn and Shadowmoor sets ended with bringing the plane back to a full day/night cycle fusing the worlds - but we've only really seen bits and bobs of the world since those sets, so who knows how they will work with that, or roll back that story element.

Chances are we'll get a minis set to go with the D&D book - and if you like goofy or weird and scary creatures of the types I mentioned - I think you'll enjoy those.
