Agreed. And somewhat disappointed that this needed to be done. Geryon should have looked more like this out of the box.
Disclamer: I prefer black bases, and as such have painted many clear bases black. Pictures of my collection will reflect this, varying from the original way the mini was produced.

This is true. I don't want to be overly critical of factory paint jobs because I know the workers are primarily paid for speed and efficiency. But on premium-priced miniatures, they should be given more time and we should be able to expect a bit more.
