Re: Pathfinder Battles: Fearsome Forces
I'm highly skeptical of a single miniature format.
Current PPM wishlist: Barlgura, Bronze Scout, Cultist/Cult Fanatic, Gnoll Witherling, Hezrou, Nonaton, Rug of Smothering, Stone Defender,
Re: Pathfinder Battles: Fearsome Forces
I remember hating this single mini model with Heroes & Monsters. I never found the blister gravity feed model with We Be Goblins and Undead Horde, either.
Whether or not I buy into this is REALLY going to depend on the miniatures.

Re: Pathfinder Battles: Fearsome Forces
Poor Pathfinder Battles.
I love this idea.
But $6.99? Do you know how many cool miniatures are sitting on ebay right now for $6.99 or less? Do they even know what they are competing against?
On the other hand, for people who still go to brick and mortar stores... I can see people swing by and grab one of these from a local gaming store while they are shopping (i'd have a hard time not buying a couple every time i came in).
Its going to come down to how good/bad these minis are. 18 miniatures means you gotta be nailing at least 8-10 really cool miniatures people will want multiples.

Re: Pathfinder Battles: Fearsome Forces
If they didn't think We be goblins and Undead Hoard sold well enough to continue, I wonder what they think has changed? I'd guess the climbing prices of boosters bricks and cases prices out a lot of customers.
I bought both the above full box sets and liked them so I'm glad to see it coming back.

Re: Pathfinder Battles: Fearsome Forces
Yeah, this needs to be a set with basically only good minis most people would want, and also not mind having multiples of for the common/uncommon ones. I really don't mind the single miniature format, but at that price? It would really suck to spend $7 on one in a store, and get something like the Zorbo from ToA. The reason regular booster boxes work well is that even if you get one of the bad minis in a set, you're likely to also get at least one mini you like, making the purchase feel worth it.
Getting the same amount of minis as a regular booster pack(4) would cost you $28. Pics not yet shown, but from the description it sounds as though this will be a set with Medium sized minis only, mentioning only kholo(gnolls), undead(probably skeletons and zombies), and serpentfolk(yuan-ti). So you'd be paying more than a regular booster of four minis for the same amount of minis, with no chance to get Large or Huge sized minis...
On the plus side, at least it sounds like the set will focus on minis that could be useful to fill out collections of common types of enemies.

Looks like all decent to me. No duds, but nothing I'd call a rare or stand outs.
KASA obake could double as an ubrella mimic which is sweet.
Blowdart lizard folk? I want 3.

Re: Pathfinder Battles: Fearsome Forces
My first impressions of this set are a little mixed. Many minis in the set are pretty generic offerings, which I think is good for this type of format. I am not a Pathfinder Battles player, so some of these minis have less utility for me -- I'm talking about you, Kasa Obake. I have never liked PB's cartoony hobgoblins, so the soldier is a pass for me as well.
Some of these minis are must haves for me, such as the Gnoll Cultist and Harpy Skeleton.
While I am not adverse to paying $7 for a random mini -- I do think that for that price point, all 18 minis do need to appeal to a large amount of people. In fact, if I was a casual player and decided to pick up a few for fun, I would feel a little ripped off, if I was hoping for a Gnoll Cultist and opened up a Kasa Obake. (It is a fun, new mini, but I think it's inclusion in this set format just doesn't fit well). Thanks to coyotee's suggestion, I will store him with my mimics in case I want to surprise my players with an umbrella mimic.
It will be very interesting to see how the secondary market structures the prices for these minis.

Re: Pathfinder Battles: Fearsome Forces
Do we know if there is a rarity distribution?
For me, the Lizardfolk Defender is great. I always enjoy having other colors beyond green, and the Skeletal Mage is goofy fun.

Re: Pathfinder Battles: Fearsome Forces
How did I miss the harpy mini on first look.... to me that is the set rare and chase piece. I'd take 5 of those. ... probably as easy 1 to do well with a 3d printer though.
Re: Pathfinder Battles: Fearsome Forces
Mmmmmm. Harpy Skeleton
Yes please. Most of the rest are absolute duds at $7

Re: Pathfinder Battles: Fearsome Forces
The Harpy skeleton is great and not overpriced at $6.99.
The Lizardfolk scout with the blowgun is very good and also worth $7.
Both are welcome in multiples.
The Lizardfolk defender is also generic enough to be useful in numbers.
The Zombie shambler, Lifeleech brawler & Orc brute are three female orc minis which all look good and can be used as normal orcs.
Skeletal champion and Skeletal mage are both solid.
The Gnoll sergeant and Gnoll cultist both look good.
The Jorogumu is useful in numbers for a Tian-Xia or asian setting or can be used when spider people are called for, otherwise one is enough.
The Nosferatu Overlord and Kasa Obake are minis which can be used one of.
The Nagaji soldier and Serpentfolk venomscale have the wrong weapon/pose to be useful more than once.
The Serpentfolk venomcaller wears ridiculous clothes.
I don't like the new Omox demon redesign, but it is okay as an ooze/undead hybrid i guess.
I don't like the Hobgoblin redesign.
