Free RPG Day minis
Free RPG Day minis
Tomorrow is Free RPG Day in the US and Canada -- not sure about international.
WizKids is sending stores the following:
3 Dungeon & Dragon Promo minis with 2 paint kits! Includes Harengon Brigands, Moonstone Wyrmlings, Envoker & Illusionist, Paint Kit: Hellwasp, and Paint Kit: Oni.
I'm not seeing any other vendors providing miniatures, but the website isn't very well updated this year.
While the day is called "Free RPG Day", usually stores will expect you to purchase merch to get the bigger stuff like WizKids minis.

I write at Blizzardwatch.com to afford all these minis. Officially boycotting WizKids until Three Kobolds in a Trenchcoat is released to the general public.

Re: Free RPG Day minis
I'm going to roll by one of CSIs stores and see if they're doing anything today. I'm in Orlando all weekend
Edit
Nevermind, apparently both of their locations are for playing magic. They literally have pcs setup to shop their website.

Finally got it to load, would need to drive an hour or more to find a shop participating. Boo.

I went to one of the shops on the list in Orlando. They had put the paint night kits on the shelf to sell. There were some onslaught cards available on the free table.
Those paint night kits were the only wizkids products in the store and they only had 1 of each.

Re: Free RPG Day minis
Posted on the main forum before I noticed this thread, but my local Boardgames Cafe (Victoria, BC) had them just sitting out with the free sample RPGs. I took one set each of the Wyrmlings and Evoker/Illusionist; they had the two unpainted kits but I felt like I should leave them for someone who actually wants to use the kit to learn to paint as I already have both miniatures. But yeah, this was around 11:30 and you could take what you wanted; the store had already been open for around half an hour. I was surprised the promos were still there.

Re: Free RPG Day minis
My store stopped free rpg day. Said it was more expensive to host and not worth it
Re: Free RPG Day minis
Expensive to host? The stores in my city just put everything on a table and let folks help themselves. Do they have to pay for the stuff? I sort of assumed it was sent to them as free promos.
Re: Free RPG Day minis
Yeah, the stores have to pay for it. The prices probably change each year, and this year it cost $170 USD for one set, with the possibility of a $60 discount per three sets a store ordered. And then shipping on top of that. (Plus import taxes for most countries.) Might not seem like much for a larger chain of stores, but for a lot of small FLGS it might not be something they can do.
Re: Free RPG Day minis
My local shop is willing to check this out for the next Free RPG Day, so how do we find out about this more than 1 day out, AND can we back track to the last one?
