D&D Icons of the Realms - Adult Deep Dragon
Product Description:
The D&D Icons of the Realms: Adult Deep Dragon boxed miniature is an excellent addition to your miniatures collection or display shelf. Sculpted with highly detailed features and using premium paints, this deep dragon is a great foe for any adventure!
Making their lairs in the depths of the Underdark, deep dragons are nightmarish cousins of chromatic dragons. The warped magical energy of their subterranean realm gives them the ability to exhale magical spores that instill fear and scar the mind.
Deep dragons’ black-and-gray hide is smooth like a salamander’s, and their eyes are pale. As they age, their spore breath causes fungi to bloom across their skin, especially around the head and neck. Their wings are attached to their front legs and can fold in close to the body, allowing deep dragons to easily maneuver through relatively narrow tunnels.
Release Date: February 2024
Price: $79.99

Heck yeah! I was hoping they would release one of these. I know the art change isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I’m rather fond of the 5e style.
Re: D&D Icons of the Realms - Adult Deep Dragon
Sadly, they ignored the art of the adults growing fungal horns... But I'm still very interested in this one!
Claugiyliamatar: "Ah, but yes little heroes, if I wanted you dead, I'd be chewing on you right now. Now play nice, listen closely and I might even help you 'save the world' from the giant menace..."
Re: D&D Icons of the Realms - Adult Deep Dragon
Totally would get this one. Our shroomy, fungi spore breathing fella!
Will use it in some of my....deeper homebrew campaign
Also imagine If WotC stop being so dismissive of previous dragons from previous editions and pay homage to say missing dragons creators like Richard Alan Lloyd.
Would be a banger of a anniversary move. I just dont get it sometimes. It would rake in the dosh!
If I had the position and absolute control of what dragons should be reintroduced
I would make Io proud!
In short would love to see these under as official, fine tuned, reintroduced dragons in future 5e. Imagine having Starter Kits introducing them???? Heck! Grey, Brown dragons from the ooooold early 2000 to late 2010s WizKids booster boxes would be nice!
Yellow coastal salt spewing dragon Third picture in the link
Orange jungle oily flammable/ explosive salvia breathing First and second pictures in link
https://www.google.no/search?sca_esv=55 ... 8&dpr=1.25
And ofcourse
Purple energy/ plasma ( latter = LLoyds take on purple dragon )

-As far as I know Deep dragons are cousins to TRUE chromatic dragons. Aka actual purple dragons.
Theres one theory that a group of Purple dragons went from Upper and Middle Underdark and preferred the Deep underdark, evolving and adapting to the denser shroomy biomes here and there.
-4E Purples actually had a energetic, disorienting breath but seemed much more of the exploritory type.
-And Lloyds Purple dragons lived in the Upper to near surface based caves, had plasma breath and burrowed tunnels up into the fields where cattle and other prey animals grazed. Hunting those at night.
No matter which underground dragon. They love intel, intrigue, arrogant as ALL 9 hells, high and mighty and bask in knowledge. Information IS ammunition!

First Adult SRP under $80 since the Green.
This is too expensive.
Re: D&D Icons of the Realms - Adult Deep Dragon
While i really love the mini, the adult deep dragon is huge and we already got a huge Deep Dragon in Mordenkainens Monsters of the Multiverse:

This one should be on a gargantuan 4 x 4 base.
If it really is on a gargantuan base, this is a no-brainer für $80.
If it's on a huge base, i already got one.

Re: D&D Icons of the Realms - Adult Deep Dragon
I hear you. I recently ran the Young Adult as a standard Adult, and the size was just fine. Especially with the pair of Wyrmlings.
That said, I do expect this to be Gargantuan, ala the Adult Gold.
Periodically adding miniatures and terrain to my Sales thread.

You know, those really wouldn’t be too hard to add…
I need to go dig out my huge fungal (deep) dragon and sculpt some horns and some more shrooms.

Re: D&D Icons of the Realms - Adult Deep Dragon
Pretty sure this is on a Gargantuan base, guys. All Adult Dragons are/were so far, I dunno why they would stop the trend.
I like the mini, great pose and nice detail with the fungal growths. But a bit disappointed as I expected them to add the fungal horn and beard as shown on the sketches in Fizban's.
I am guessing then that is only for the Ancient Deep Dragons? But given the coming "One D&D" or 6E or whatever you wanna call it art design change, it remains to be seen if we are ever gonna get that one. They have not even finished the Ancient Chromatics not to mention any Metallics or Gem Dragons.
At any rate, I do like the sort of "fungal growth" visible between the life cycle stages. The mushroom shelves have multiple rows (only one row on the Young one) and grow further back on the neck, and the tail and wings also has fungi growing on it!

$80 indicates gargantuan base with huge white ring.
Disclamer: I prefer black bases, and as such have painted many clear bases black. Pictures of my collection will reflect this, varying from the original way the mini was produced.

Re: D&D Icons of the Realms - Adult Deep Dragon
Nice to see the Dragon Icons back to churning away, even if I have no love for this design. Still will likely grab one...and desperately hoping we get another Ancient Dragon in Classic style announced soon....
Re: D&D Icons of the Realms - Adult Deep Dragon
I love the lore, and coloration and the shrooms. I HATE the dorky chicken faces. I will pick one up because I must own everything but might smear some clown make up on it.
Check out my BUY LIST in the Selling group!
Re: D&D Icons of the Realms - Adult Deep Dragon
I don't like that this design is called "Deep Dragon", which used to be another name for the very sleek and elegant Purple Dragons. Where'd that dragon go? I love that design.
That said, I do like this weird chicken dragon design in itself, it's very unique and interesting. So I would love to own this one. Would absolutely use it as some homebrew dragon creature, though.

Re: D&D Icons of the Realms - Adult Deep Dragon
See, they made deep dragons and purple dragons separate types so that they could sell you more dragons. Genius!
