Wizkids New Bases

New bases coming out in April. Hopefully these are thicker than the current wafers.

If they are thicker, I hope they keep the thinner ones as well. The unpainted line with the skate boards need the thin bases.

And yeah, the old waifers have some really good uses.

It’s good to see they are releasing more bases, these were getting scarce. It’s even better that they are still supporting black versions of them.

The image makes it look like they're mixed packs - small, medium and large sized bases.

If true, That's definitely better than just separate packs of mediums and larges.

I need a pack of the clear flight stands from the early D&D sets. I've picked up SOOO many dragons and such in collections missing the posts. I tried making my own but its more trouble than its worth and since its not an official post I can't sell it as complete figs.

You mean the early icons lines? Worst flight stand ever! Unbalanced. Prone to breaking.
The newer ones are so much better.

Callback to an old post....

I just purchased 20 of these (Skyjek Roc) on sale from miniature market. I think they were $1.30 a piece.

Why 20? Here’s where some of you are going to cringe. For $1.30 a piece I now have 20 ‘new style’ flying bases for older minis.

The stupid animated oil can and a few others have also been good sources of these bases. The roc, however has the benefit of having wings that work well on many kitbashes.

The Nolzur's Spectator/Gazer gives you 1 medium and 2 small flying stands for $5 as well. I have used Gazer stand and Heroclix Ghost Rider head to make Flaming Skulls.

So interesting enough, and probably related to this, the new lines of wizkids unpainted minis don't look to have bases included in them. I saw a post about it on instagram and then checked my recent critical role Halas Fleshgolem and it does not have a base included.

I will say that not including bases with these minis really sucks despite how you feel about clear or black.

I hate that the 4D/Warlock Tile sets with the painted version of the unpainted minis had no bases, looks like they decided to expand that out.

I for one am glad. I’ve gotten to the point where I just toss the skinny bases with the packaging because I had so many of them.

I understand they aren’t the best quality and people use others, but we aren’t getting cheaper minis without the base so it’s just them getting us to pay more in the long run. This is particularly bad for huge or larger minis as I do not have any bases for them and will need to spend more money to get one.
