Reaper Sophie's Revenge

Post by romuloxx »

Hi All,

I know there has been some regret for those that were unable to purchase Sophie's Revenge from Reaper Bones V. When I was checking their upcoming minis, I stumbled across a release date of Jan 15th for it to appear on the website. I am not sure if these are extras vs releasing it on retail, but it's a pretty fun item.

If my budget and lifestyle permitted, this would be top of my list. Sigh.

I got both Sophie's Revenge and the Storm Wraith during the KS, and they're BIG! Also, there's playable interior for below deck as well! It also came with, like, 20 or so guns, though I don't know whether this'll be true for the version released in their store.

And there were power ups for two other figureheads, one of which was also the one that came with the Storm Wraith, though those definitely won't come with the ship.

For anyone wondering about the size compared to Wizkids "Falling Star", user "AlonTey" over at the Reaper forums took this pic of the two next to each other:

Actually, seeing as how the Bones 5 Fan Favorites expansion box is also listed there, I would assume the Sophie's Revenge is a KS leftover copy. Not at all certain, of course.

Also interestingly, Arakoth the Ancient(gargantuan sized spider) seems to be coming in a retail version with a square base. It originally came with an irregular shaped base.

I’m pretty sure the Sophie’s Revenges are new production. They showed a bunch of pics unloading the recent container on Reaper Live. (Didn’t watch that part, but saw it when scrubbing through to look at mini’s after the episode was over.) They answered a question while I was watching that it is ‘the same plastic as the kickstarter.’ It’s only implied, but it was in answer to a question about if the new ones were a different plastic mix than before (they had a primed 3D print on the table; it was a darker grey than the KS bare plastic).

I just have the two Sophie’s. Below it is tiamat’s wing haha. It’s where I store all my gargantuan minis.

Love them!!! The biggest kicker of my mini collecting life was backing out on this on in the KS.

Especially when Reaper just announced in the last Ks comment they will prob not do ships again as it was a lot of work.

Apparently Reaper’s restock of the Sophie’s Revenge sold out in about 8 hours. Wow.

Edit: Nevermind. Someone on the Reaper discord said it never went live (typically would have gone live at 12:01 this morning). Said person is very sleep deprived, and stayed up all night, intending to snag one when it went live.

It’s officially live now so you can always get one!

I have two and my only regret is not having a bigger table.

It is still my sore point of my collection of not getting (damn you Bones V!!!) but at the same time, I have a very hard time to justify $300 CAN for anything for one piece for gaming. Yes, it beautiful but at the same time it is not something I could hide LOL. I am really hoping for just a simple modular ship or ship floor and ships walls tiles..... (look at you u DF or someone)

It is great to see it in the shop! I am actually surprised and that alone holds me hope that someday more terrain such things will be done in the future.

The original KS offer of $100 the Revenge remains one of the best deals I've ever seen for a miniature. Kinda still kicking myself for not getting one, but I already had the Falling Star. SR is the better miniature, though, and it isn't close, even though I am happy with the FS.
