Huh, so this is a re-release of the very first set? Well, since Wizkids returned to make Young Dragons Large only, I am guessing this means no Huge sized Metallics, still... pity. Also, a re-release of the most useless Dragon mini ever, the Shadow Black Dragon, which most people just buy to do a quick repaint to a proper Black Dragon. Unless they change the sculpt now and make it shadowy...

I would not mind getting a better detailed sculpt of Rezmir (aka the Black Dragon Lord) though, close to her GF9 mini or artwork! And funny, I was just thinking I really would like another Doppleganger mini. Maybe one half-changed into a Human form, like the Eberron Changeling mini.

This'll also be the second Oni/Ogre Mage we got from Wizkids, discounting the Classic Creatures one.

Also guessing the Stone Giant Elder and Frost Giant will be properly on Huge bases, and in case of the latter, upscaled to Huge too. It's funny but the Stone Giant Elder, despite being on a Large base, is actually to scale with later Stone Giant minis.
And hey, finally, we can get a Large sized Wyvern! I'd be happy with the S&S2 sculpt scaled down, even.
Does whatever a Spiderdragon can!

This picture depicts a Frost Giant which I think is on a Huge-size base, however the set description indicates that there are only large-sized creatures. I wonder if that was a typo?

I can confirm, she's on a huge base. There are two huge figures in the set, the other is the Stone Giant.

The frost giant probably has a large circle on its base….so it counts.

Vex, it’s probably too early to share, but are the “large” dragons really large (sized like the original Tyranny figures, or “really big large that we don’t want to call huge” like most of the icons line dragons?

The latter. Put next to the young dragons we've released on huge bases with large threat rings, they'll be roughly that size.

I'm not unhappy about this announcement, ToD is a set I never bought so getting a newer version sounds like a good idea.
So...can we expect other set remakes?

I just saved a ton of money by switching to a purchasing freeze. Currently on track to keep my wife and be spoiled again later.

I take it this is a 1-for-1 remake of the original ToD set then, or will there be any differences?

EDIT: Never mind it clearly says so here: "Updated poses and decoration for all 44 original Tyranny of Dragons miniatures."

Not likely. The concept was this was going to be a sort of 10-year anniversary set for IotR and was originally supposed to be released in 2024, but it shifted later.

Well, dang. So many wonderful large dragons… And I can see why the resculpts, the flight stands on many of the dragons in Tyrrany of Dragons were tenuous at best.

44 minis? There were 50 in ToD (not counting the invisibles). Six must not have made the cut.

And with the two large giants in the set, it makes sense they needed to be upsized since all the giants seemed to get a boost after ToD.

The red dragon in the original set was a Half Red Dragon Fighter. I have to admit with Half Dragons, Dragonborn, Draconian, Spawn of Tiamat and Abishai, the lines have got very blurred for humanoid dragon types. Especially with chromatic colors bleeding into Dragonborn. But my guess is that will be the Half Red Dragon Fighter. And we should get a Half Black Dragon Lord, too.

Seeing some of the improvements on the few medium minis revealed, I’m actually hopeful the Mane Demon gets upgraded, I didn’t really care for his look in the original set. And it will be interesting to see if the Ballista is one of the minis cut from the set since it is more dressing than mini…
Disclamer: I prefer black bases, and as such have painted many clear bases black. Pictures of my collection will reflect this, varying from the original way the mini was produced.

Well, so much for my original ToD set minis! These are bound to be all improvements...

My guess is that the cut minis will be the six player character minis that sit between the Large rares and the invisibles in the original gallery: https://www.minisgallery.com/index.php? ... of-dragons

(Also: very happy there isn't a return of the invisibles!)

That might make a medium sized ballista mini a possibility.

Were those minis even in the original boosters? I don't even recall them.
