I’m going to go with the Medium Water Elemental. It doesn’t have the benefit of transparent plastic, but the coloring certainly gave it the feel of water. Of all the early elementals, it is my favorite. That being said, we have had so many elementals offered that there are a lot of great choices out there.
Shocking pick . I got rid of about 3-4 of those water elemental over the years, To me it does not even look like it is from the same product line as the DnD minis. It is like a goofy blue coolaid man.
I find Shattered star is the best set for elements. Loved what that set put out for elementals.

There was just something about the color and shape that made me like this guy. I didn’t get him right away, but when I did I grew fond of him.
Disclamer: I prefer black bases, and as such have painted many clear bases black. Pictures of my collection will reflect this, varying from the original way the mini was produced.

I enjoy the medium water elemental too, and if there was any particular use for medium elementals in 5e, I wish there was a translucent version of the sculpt.

There is a translucent version of the sculpt, actually. The board game The Legend of Drizzt comes with three of them. :)

Dire Ape is easily my favorite, but Large Monstrous Spider, Bright Naga, Black Dragon & Large Red Dragon are not far behind. Still waiting for a huge ape. Kong! Kong! Kong!

Ok so next set is Dragoneye
For me it was a toss up between Eye of Grumsh and troglodyte.

Ultimately I had to go with 60 Troglodyte - this one hinges on playability. These are perfect for throwing at players during a dungeon. He has the right amount of detail and a decent enough paint job for a common.
Totally agree the trog can get a lot of table time so this one is useful, but the Trogs to come a few sets down the line put this one to shame. There are so many more decent minis in this Dragoneye set to go with over a blotchy trog.

Defiantly agree on that Bright Naga. One of the best of the set, and IMO the best naga mini we have seen to date.

Actually, I think Heroscape released a translucent but also painted version of that Water Elemental too.
I like the Draconians, they go well with the Sivak and Aurak released far far later. Do wish they were more metallic in paint.
The Silver Sorcerer is an odd one. I much prefer the new 5E look of half-dragons where they have dragon-shape heads instead of a mix of humanoid and dragon. That said, she has a nice design.
I had the Black Dragon from the miniature game starter set, and remains a big favourite of mine. I like the green used to accentuate the scales!

kodiakbear wrote: Fri Apr 24, 2020 11:44 pm I like spider encounters (It must be because of the awesome spiders in the animated Hobbit) and while we now have tons of PPM spiders I still like the Large Monstrous Spider

I wanted that thing for ages, and after getting it I was a bit disappointed. Online photos never showed how weird-shaped the abdomen is...

I wish I could say what's the best in Dragoneye, but I am far from having all the minis I want from the first three-four sets especially.
Does whatever a Spiderdragon can!

The Large Monstrous Spider is my goto large spider. They’re really aren’t a whole lot of options, I included the Phase Spider in comparison even though I don’t consider it a regular large spider.

Although it is undersized on it's large base,
there is also the "Blade Spider" from the Demonweb set:

Ooh are the heroscape ones on the later actually medium sized base or the older sized base that's larger than medium, and too small for large?

A little bit more googling revealed that they have a slightly larger than medium sized base. Here's a picture from Troll & Toad(where they sell it for about $14):

Based on that picture, I would guess a ~32mm base.

Ok, I did buy a bunch of the minis back in the day, and rebased them on super cheap DDM bases (ie minis that cost less than $1 at the time) I could do something like that if I can get a hold of that fellow... I like the semi-painted versions better than the unpainted ones from the board game. They were really easy to make super secure, since they had little pegs on their feet into the heroscape base, so putting a couple of holes into the DDM base made them even more secure than putting say Nolzur's minis on their included bases.
