I’m sure SFG can come up with something that will inspire me to fork over some cash, but that descriptive wall of text definitely isn’t doing it.
Re: SFG Epic Encounters
Yeah I'm not sure how I feel about this one. And if it's more PC/NPC driven, I'll probably skip it.

Considering SFG's track record, we should count ourselves lucky that the text was at least spelled correctly.ksbsnowowl wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 9:45 am I’m sure SFG can come up with something that will inspire me to fork over some cash, but that descriptive wall of text definitely isn’t doing it.
They recently released the contents of their Dark Souls RPG based on D&D 5e, also produced via Kickstarter. It's comically bad. It's rife with spelling errors and contradictory rules. There's a subreddit for the game where people try to homebrew the rules so that they're actually usable and figure out how to get refunds.

I would be extremely reluctant to buy any print product from SFG, especially when they're offering it through a Kickstarter.

Re: SFG Epic Encounters
The print material that comes with Epic Encounters seems fine, though I admit that I haven't read it too closely. It's mostly about the miniatures, anyway; I suspect this will be the same.

I gotta say, I love the crazy wizard(or druid) and the owlbear.Steamforged Games teased Epic Encounters: Local Legends, a line of miniatures boxed sets, which will be headed to Kickstarter soon.
Local Legends takes Epic Encounters into the pub. Like other Epic Encounters products (see "'Epic Encounters' Fantasy Miniatures Sets"), these boxed sets will offer a complete one-shot-in-a-box adventure with highly-detailed miniatures and more to help DMs weave the tale. The twist with this series is that this series of one-shots all revolve around fantasy tavern encounters that are all 5E compatible.
No word on the launch date of the Kickstarter, MSRP, or anticipated retail release date.

Re: SFG Epic Encounters
That's a pretty smart release - identify a coveted miniature that isn't well represented by Nolzur's and then fill the gap with a cool sculpt. I already have the Reaper one on the way, though. As usual for this line, it's a great looking sculpt!
Re: SFG Epic Encounters
Yeah, I saw that dragon turtle. Pretty cool sculpt! One thing I really like about it is how there's no water effect attached to it, which both Wizkids minis have. Of course, I would've preferred no scenic base at all, but at least that rock could be either on land or below water.
Re: SFG Epic Encounters
Okay, so it turns out they have a video trailer on FB. And it shows off a bunch of minis near the end, including the few we've already seen:
There are also a couple of other shots where you can see more minis. There seems to be some hooded ghosts/zombies, some circular boulder minis, and some giant bats.

Re: SFG Epic Encounters
Hehe, indeed!
Honestly, I'll probably be skipping this. There's just absolutely nothing I feel I need here. I originally thought this would be more tavern based in its minis, but it's more about the tales told in those taverns.
I think the minis look pretty great, though. I wouldn't mind having them, but I don't feel the need to buy them when I already have multiples of most of these creatures already.

Re: SFG Epic Encounters
Ouf! Yeah... But that does seem to be the way SFG likes to do things, though. Bundle the minis with some paper content of sorts.
Re: SFG Epic Encounters
Nice miniatures. Too expensive.
I can go to my FLGS right now and buy two Epic Encounters for a hundred bucks and get 40 miniatures, plus booklets and such (which are not the point, anyway). So...this KS is offering me the opportunity to pay 60% more for 2 fewer minis after waiting for a year or so?
I don't get it. Kickstarters are supposed be cheaper, in exchange for the money up front. This seems like the opposite.
Oh, they are claiming this is a "whopping discount" on the eventual retail price. Do they actually think that is a $310 product? lol

Right you are, as always, Clint. Too pricey. Would welcome it as a gift, though.Clint wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 4:43 pm Nice miniatures. Too expensive.
