New WK line: Magic The Gatheric unpainted minis
New WK line: Magic The Gatheric unpainted minis
Skimming through the WK release schedule, you can see that in November there are various release for a serie branded "Magic The Gathering unpainted miniatures".
There are also some suspicious minis in October, though not labelled as "unpainted minis" still they definetely are Magic The Gathering.
They do not result if you select "fantasy miniatures" in the filters but they are there if you do not filter.
Does this mean we'll also soon see a pre-painted line? Time will telll...even if it was, it's not bad news for me: I can always find some interesting figurees in the Magic sets even if I have zero interest in the game.
Also: why are they producing Magic minis? Possibly to complement D&D modules with some more pieces? Or is there somethign more coming? Again, we'll see in time...

What will the future hold? My moneys on a line of "unpainted" MtG cards that you get to colour in yourself.
Where does it end for do it yourself gaming products?
Paint your own dice?
Carve your own pencil?
Make your own paper?
Write your own adventure?............oh wait.....

Images are already available of some of the mtg minis. I think it was on pjs games.com.
They look pretty good, fair number of huge ones.

The Council of Ghosts is a neat idea and cool for a unique.
Not sure how much I would use it but it would be cool to have if the price was right

No Loxodons? What am I gonna do with all this pink paint?!
This is too expensive.

The number of huge minis really makes me think they wanted to include these in the Ravnica painted set but couldn't make the cut. Theros had several huge minis (and some packages with two large or a large and a huge). The Other set of sculpts suggest that either a Zendikar based book is coming and hence they have mini sculpts OR they cancelled a mini set for Zendikar and have some sculpts already done so they are running these to at least capture some investment back,Lotzakroqin wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 2:53 am Images are already available of some of the mtg minis. I think an unpainted line for these setting-specific minis is a better idea. Patrick has made subtle suggestions in some interviews that the unpainted line does better than the painted line at this point, at least for minis. Since Ravnica seems to sell so poorly, no point in wasting time, effort, and money pursuing another painted line to include these.

So you all knew about this and nobody told me? Very mean
Also, I made a spelling mistake in the title, forgive me allmighty moderators

I didn't know, either. I thought this thread would be about Creature Forge Deep Cuts...

The D20s came with2 sets of 0-9, you painted one set one color, and the other set another color. You'd have to declare at the beginning of a game what color was "high", meaning you added 10 to the roll (and 0=10, with the other 0=20). I still have several sets of dice I painted myself.

RhydurMeith, Happy birthday, youngster! I am 62, and I painted those dice. I left 1-0 white, and painted the other 1-0 red or green to indicate 11-20. What a great thing when actual 20-sided dice came out with all the numbers. Did you play 1st edition? I remember it fondly....might have been my favorite edition, though it might also just be nostalgia.

We used crayon, the wax filled the numbers nicely. Usually blue for the low side, and red for the high side “red for blood”.
They certainly are nostalgic, but I also remember how quickly we replaced them with bonafide d20 when they became available. There’s just something about interpreting a 0 as a 10 or 20 that is not right...

Disclamer: I prefer black bases, and as such have painted many clear bases black. Pictures of my collection will reflect this, varying from the original way the mini was produced.
