Re: Worst of the Worst - War of the Dragon Queen
Based on quality of sculpt and paint alone, I think this is the best set of the DDM line. Nearly every mini would pass for “rare” in todays icons line.
My list will mostly be “nitpicking” and based on usability.
ASPECT OF BAHAMUT – Sculpt always seems a little lame and toy like. I have not used to this day. Meh.
TORDEK – The mask ruins this mini. Chubby cheeks and weird expression. Shame that it’s a legendary character mini. Meh.
CLAWFOOT RIDER – Until Chult and Tomb of Annihilation, I never had use for a dino rider. The axe broke off before I ever got to use it. Meh.
LARGE FANG DRAGON – DERP!!! Looks like a Giraffe F*** an alligator, + wings and an underbite.
STORM ARCHER – Lacks on paint quality, which is a shame because the sculpt detail is there. The face is non existent, but can be touched up, even with just a wash. Meh.
BLACKSPAWN – Something about the sword and sculpt just doesn’t work for me. Meh.
WHITESPAWN HOREDLING – Im guessing this mini was done with the “Sacred Watcher” from the War Drums set. Meh.
OGRE SKIRMISHER - another Sculpt that Is a bit lack luster and boarder line cartoony. The body is flat, and doesnt look much better than the Harbinger ogre.

Re: Worst of the Worst - War of the Dragon Queen
The golden rule of American miniature clothing is that if it is female, it has to cover its boobies. And this one, curiously, seems to be wearing a bra. So, I'd like to see it as one of the first large-sized female monster minis, which makes it very special. It's also smaller than most of the other ogres, despite their tendency to get ever-bigger from set to set.
Disclamer: I prefer black bases, and as such have painted many clear bases black. Pictures of my collection will reflect this, varying from the original way the mini was produced.

Huh....I own this mini, and I never clued in that it was female. It has big hips too, not just bra and nips. My opinions of the quality are unchanged, but yes it is cool to see we have a female mini option.Felony wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 1:06 am this one, curiously, seems to be wearing a bra. Slaughterstone Eviscerator - Big machines are generally just not my thing in D&D. It just feels so out of place to me.

Griffon Cavalry - The "taking a hard left turn" pose ruins this one for me.

Witchknife - The guy just looks derpy.

Griffon Rider is a tough one for me. I was really excited when I first saw it. Everything about it SHOULD be awesome. It is a high quality mini in every way.....yet in reality, meh. It falls easy, and I still have yet to use it, even when aerial combat came up....we just used theatre of the mind.
All the individual pieces and ideas of the mini seem cool, but in the end, its like the old saying;
"A camel is a horse designed by a committee".
And funny enough....mounted camel riders in desert gear would probably see way more table time.
Not sure there is another way to do an in flight action pose for a mini, without having wings spread across the table. In theory , Id rather have this, than just sitting mounted with wings folded.

Does anyone have a Griffon Rider that actually doesn’t fall over?
