Seems like after the insane quality of War of the Dragon Queen, WotC said “ok we don’t have to make them THAT good”. Some great stuff but not as hard to pull out the obvious winners.

Air Genasi Swashbuckler – Such a cool Genasi. The extra elements to the mini really make it stand out from regular humanoids. Still on my list to get.

Lillend- Beauty of a mini. Outstanding paintjob and effects on the wings. Still need to get this.

Blood of Vol Cultist – The classic “mysterious robed figure”. Is there anything this mini cant be? Cultist. Wizard. BBEG of any type. PC in disguise. One of the most used minis I got.

Horned Devil – Scary as hell. Now THAT’S a devil. Compare it to the other 2 released. Unreal detail that comes through even with a simple paint job.

Pit Fiend – So good it surpasses the Horned Devil! Again, way better than the others released. (Decent into Avernus close second). How can WotC release minis like this, and then approve such garbage years later?

Githyanki Dragon Knight – ohh I think the upcoming Baulders Gate 3 is gonna bring this mini back to the table. A mounted dragon is such a great variant to have, especially when done this well.

Orc Wizard – A must have for the orc army. When you drop in a caster, it is nice to have it stand out like this. Still need this mini.

Vlaakith – A named character with such an important place in dnd lore deserves to have a high quality mini like this. Centre piece of a campaign, so it better look good when it hits table….and it does.

Oh man, this set has so many cool minis! :D It's also really hard to choose because of that, so two of the ones I've chosen are because of their utility. ;)

Air Genasi Swashbuckler - This is just such a cool sculpt! There is no doubt there is a connection to the element of air, and it's all just very dynamic! The paint job also looks great!

Karsite Fighter - This is a very cool miniature, even though it's perhaps one of the less interesting ones. However, there is an aura of confidence radiating from this guy, and he's my go to for any Veteran or named fighter NPC. He sees a lot of use at my table!

Image

Fiendish Snake - I simply love this sculpt! Such an amazing looking snake miniature! :D

Some honourable mentions:
Hero of Valhalla - Simple pose, but I always loved this miniature. It's a great sculpt and a good color scheme and paint job.
Kobold Monk - It's a kobold monk! :D
Blood of Vol Cultist - Just the perfect cultist miniature!

This was a hard one as this set has some classic minis and sculpts.

I went with Horned Devil as this guy is just plain awesome and love the chain.
Next was the Large Water Elemental as it is my go too for that creature and he looks way larger and the clear plastic looks amazing.
Solar was the last choice and I tough one, but I just love the stance and the colors on it are nice for a big boss angel.

Pit Fiend, Ice Devil, Githyanki Dragon Knight, Owlbear, Hellcat, Fire Giant Forgepriest, Blood of Vol Cultist, Bralani Eladrin, Kolyarut, Half-Orc Spy, Arcadian Hippogriff, Maug, Lillend even the Dragonmark Heir of Deneith is useful.
Been collecting since Harbringer. 3.5 Drunken DM who enjoys gaming, painting and Dwarven Forge terrain. Remember to Shout at the Devil and Up the Irons! ||m||

If his sword were a bit bigger, this would be my favorite mini from the set. As it stands, he looks like he's charging with a cocktail stick.

This set and the next unhallowed have 2 minis that work for a sweet kitbash. The Marid is in perfect stance to be put ontop of the large Water Elemental. Looks like he is surfing it. trying to find a pic.

Agree with you. it may not stand out, but it really does capture a lot of personality in the sculpt.
Hah... and I always know we are gonna have a good time when someone makes a character that uses the Hero of Valhalla!

We did a best of back in the DDM Spoiler era, and it is interesting to note how some of my picks have changed over time as new sets have come out. Some pieces are still as strong as ever while others have not aged nearly as well.
Disclamer: I prefer black bases, and as such have painted many clear bases black. Pictures of my collection will reflect this, varying from the original way the mini was produced.

Amazing set. I still remember how strong those Elf Warmages were in ths skirmish games.

My favorites from this set are:

Kolyarut
I love the look and feel of this miniature. Really sad he is not in 5e.

Air genasi swashbuckler.
Amazing dynamic pose.

Blood of Vol Cultist
One of the best cultist miniatures ever made. Nice color, pose, sculpt. Easy to find, etc.

Horned Devil
Really nice sculpt and detail. Pictures doesn't do it justice. Those little features really pop up in hand.

Pit fiend
This miniature is amazing. The wings are a little outdated as new casting techniques have come by but overall really nice devil.

Githyanki Dragon Knight
Amazing sculpt, pose and paintjob, shines today as it shined a decade ago.
