I bought stuff at Wizkids Store, now I am suddenly on Shop.app?
So this been bothering me for a while...
After last year registering at the Wizkids Store, I bought the Strahd sets (and not knowing yet, missed out by a few days on the Yeti Tykes, damn).
Now, oddly the site does not accept Paypal, just bank accounts, so I managed to pay with my card.
When not long afterwards, the specifically made for D&D store page of Wizkids, DNDMinis appeared, I could only make it work on my phone/tablet. I tried checking shipping, and here comes the weird thing...
I suddenly got an SMS on my phone about my shop code the store was asking for, as soon as I provided my email address...
Now that used BlueStacks (a great program for emulating Android on PC) to try and order stuff from the store today, I found that again, even before I registered at DNDminis, it somehow "knew" it was me there, and not only did it send a code for my phone to proceed, it then somehow knew my card number and offered it already for me to pay... Luckily that card has expired already, but still! I am very (justifiedly) careful about where I leave my card number or code, mostly if I can, I don't - it's why I prefer Paypal, and I even delete my card details from Amazon after a purchase. For a time I even used Revolut but it was just too costly.
Anyhow, after investigating the web address it turns out I somehow got registered on https://shop.app/ by registering on the Wizkids store, and since the DNDMinis store is also "powered" by this app/site, it automatically recognizes me.
Nothing malicious, sure, but I generally like to know where I register, and what details and personal data said site can keep about me. I did register at Wizkids Store, and I am fine with them having my email and address and phone number. I am NOT fine with some random app I know nothing about having the same data, and my card number on top of that. Now I deleted my card from it, but there is no way apparently to un-register from this place... and I don't know if this app is needed for me to use DNDMinis?
If anyone has more experience on this, please share.

Shop.APP is the backend of shopify's payment system I believe. Shopify is broadly the largest platform host for online shops (my store is on there and so are many many others - its deeply unsurprising that Wizkids is also using it). That said I didn't realise that shop.APP shared data between stores quite like that, and like you find it bothersome.
I run RPG Mini Hunter - an Australian based Singles store.

Sounds like decepticon treachery to me.
I dunno, it was for much the same reason that I wouldn't trust PayPal a decade ago.

"StarSCREEEEEAM!!!!"
Yeah I was iffy about Paypal too back then, but well, they turned out OK. I guess I am just paranoid.

I wouldn't say you're paranoid. From my perspective, far too many people are naive about who can see their bank info.
This is too expensive.

Lol the last "tv" I had in my bedroom was a repurposed Commodore 64 monitor.BaneOfHumanity wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 4:48 pmIf you have a TV in your bedroom....the NSA can watch you naked....

I think bane just wants to talk about you naked. Or type about it.

I was going to make a joke about this being the forum for miniatures, but I'm stuck wondering what those recordings must sound like...
