GW made these smaller scale, probably to separate it from the 40K Fantasy line which sucks. I have the escape from Goblin town and the scale difference isn't horrible for goblins and hobbits/dwarves, but the humans and orcs are more noticeable.
Yeah the different size is a contractual obligation of their license. The Tolkien estate people didn't want customers kitbashing LotR stuff into all sorts of goofy things, I guess.
Too late! Just search AoS28 (Age of Sigmar 28 is a reimagined, fan-driven version of warhammer that tends toward the absurd and grotesque) and you’ll find plenty of interesting conversions.

Looks like wave 2 will be November.
So far this is the only one to pop up, But they did add an entire category for it.

75057 is the stock number for the wave 1 ogre.

We know the basilisk and troll will be out in wave 2. I’m not sure what else might be in there.

Disclamer: I prefer black bases, and as such have painted many clear bases black. Pictures of my collection will reflect this, varying from the original way the mini was produced.

Honestly, I think the wings are less because she's a dragonborn, and more because she's a draconic sorcerer. (They get dragon like wings at level 14.)

Thought this could interest some people - this guy is showing step by step paint and mod work on the Balor, converting it with magnet-arms to a Khorne Daemon.

Yeah I know but he is kinda special. He was from the pre-4E Dragonborn era where they were transformed followers of Bahamut, and Kuyutha was basically a proxy of Bahamut with special powers (he is also Large sized).
But my post in general was that I do not recall seeing this miniature in previews before, I saw other Dragonborn sans wings. :P

Ah yeah, I think the Kobold Sorcerer has them too for this reason in Fizban's, thanks! I only saw that in Neverwinter Nights II or so.

These have just landed here in the UK, half the wave this week and it looks like the other half are landing next week.

I'm not an unpainted miniatures kinda guy in general (with the exception of the occasional 3D printed custom job) but just from the prices alone....I can't see any way that this new line isn't destined to crash and burn on arrival, right?

If you like PPM, you're not going to buy these.
If you like UPM, you already have most of these available in Nolzur's.

Where is the untapped customer base who wants to pay through the nose (£50 for seven kobolds??) for the privilege of some sprues you then have to assemble and paint yourself anyway? I would have thought sprues meant these would be a cheaper alternative, not the most expensive line per miniature.
Current PPM wishlist: Barlgura, Bronze Scout, Cultist/Cult Fanatic, Gnoll Witherling, Hezrou, Nonaton, Rug of Smothering, Stone Defender,

I’m going out on a limb and saying the frame works minis will be lucky to get a wave 3.

I’ve already seen them for sale three times on Miniature Market and many people on different forums are reporting that their stores refuse to carry them. The sale on MM right now is pretty good, at about 33% off retail. Unfortunately, this means MM is probably selling them at near cost. That’s a really bad sign.

It all comes down to valve vs price on these. Are they nice? Yes. Are they more than GW prices nice? Not in The least.

Time for WizKids to pull their heads out of their rears and tell NECA that unpainted figures aren’t a collectable that justify collectable prices.

A couple more reviews:

Ouch. Not great, but there is a lot of thoughtful discussion. The upshot is both think Frameworks are too expensive for what you get and Wizkids is weirdly competing with their own Nolzur's line.

Definitely more positive, even goes so far to think that the value is pretty good which is...an unusual take for this product. Since he received them free from WK, I sort of wondered if he actually knew how much they cost.

I’m not surprised on Nerd Immersions take. I like watching his stuff, he’s always very professional, but he’s more of an RPG product and D&D discussion guy than a miniature hobbiest type guy.

I’d look for what creators like Goobertown, Squidmar, BlackMagicCraft, Discourse Miniature, Blandco, and Dungeon Craft are saying.

We have sold a very very small amount of these (I did only order 1 of each because - yeah I was pretty sceptical about them) I generally agree with everything that has been said and suspect I will be specialling these out at some stage. The product seems okay but the price is just too much.
I run RPG Mini Hunter - an Australian based Singles store.

It definitely comes down to the price. I could get past WizKids growing pains with figuring out how to make this product really good, if they were at the $9.99 (hero), $14.99 (large monster or pair of monster), $24.99 (huge monster), $34.99 (warband/special) price points vs the respective $14.99, $24.99, $39.99, $49.99, and $99.99 price points they’re currently at.

I feel like we will see this line die before we see the prices drop. Companies hate to lower prices because it’s an admission that they could have sold the item at a lower price but instead went with a higher price. It’s likely the line will quietly die then get revived down the line once people forget about it. If they do that hopefully they learn from their mistakes and start at a lower price. Learned this from my dad when he worked for Budweiser the company executives had the policy of let a line of beer die instead of drop the price because customers get more angry when they learn you were over charging.

Huh, interest must not be big if nobody commented here since August...
At any rate, some new Frameworks were announced!
Really hoping we get some of these molds prepainted too. Love the "glowing eyes" effect on the Basilisk and the petrified Deer and Human arm is an awesome accessory - it also comes with a Cockatrice, fittingly.
But I love that Harpy the most, both the one with conveniently placed hair, and the bone-necklace bra wearing one who looks like a chieftain or a shaman. It's been ages since we had a good Harpy mini, IotR has not done one since ToD, and the male PFB one is rather terrible. In general we are in dire need of good Harpy minis, there have not been many over the years, oddly since Pathfinder especially has a lot of named Harpies in their adventure paths with some great accompanying artwork. These new ones strike a good balance between looking both sexy and repulsive at the same time.
The Tiefling Warlock having a tentacle rod is a nice touch, goes well with the warlocks with "Great Old One" patrons.
The Pit Fiend is definitely a new CGI render, has bigger horns and more detailed wings. Cool flame effects too. And I guess this guy read the latest fashion trends by Bel, and is trying to make a skull belt like him. :D
I'd have expected them to add both male and female torsos for the Centaur, but both look nice - pretty greek style, so would work well for Theros too. Luckily this one is Large, finally.
Chimera to me looks to be the same mold we are getting in Sand and Stone, though with that pic being small, not easy to tell. I do wish they had included some different Chromatic Dragon heads as extras.
